About us

Who We Are

kocreations is the passion project of Owen and Kay Wales — a husband and wife team based in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. In 2018, we made the move to Hampshire to live out a long-held dream: building a company rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and a deep love of the natural world.

"We love the more rural way and all that the countryside brings to enrich our lives."

Our Craft

Owen brings decades of skill and a lifelong connection to the land to every piece he creates. He qualified as a machine tool engineer in the early 1980s before following his heart into the arboricultural industry, where he became a qualified tree surgeon. It was during those years among the trees that his passion for wood truly took root.

"To walk through a copse of trees that were planted by us, years later coming back to see these magnificent specimens of nature — nurturing them, teaching people about them, preserving the wildlife around them, watching them grow and mature, then slowly fading away, life accomplished, life sustained in their new saplings."

That same reverence for nature is what Owen pours into every piece of woodwork and ironwork he creates. Kay brings her own creative magic to kocreations — hand drawing cards, crafting home accessories, and lovingly upcycling furniture. She has always had a passion for designing, drawing, and making, and is thrilled to have returned to her creative roots.

Our Values

We believe in making things that matter. All of our wood is sourced from windblown trees — timber that has already lived a full life and is given a beautiful second chapter in our workshop. Because of this, every piece we create is entirely unique. No two are ever the same.

We are also passionate about sharing our love of the woodland with others, offering organised walks that give insights into the natural world around us.

Our Products — The Star Light Series

Owen's other great passion is the night sky. Inspired by the stars that have guided travellers and dreamers for centuries, every handmade wood creation in our collection is given its own individual name, taken from the guardian stars above our world. Together, these pieces form our Star Light Series — each one a one-off, named for the heavens, made by hand, and crafted to last.

We also create bespoke commissioned pieces made entirely to your own specifications — because some things are worth making just for you.
